Kapa Hawaiʻi — Cultivating Community, Sustaining Aloha
A local UBI paired with the Kapa currency — designed to keep value on Hawaiʻi Island, support regenerative land stewardship (Mālama ʻĀina), and strengthen community resilience through shared prosperity.
What is Kapa?
The Kapa is a community currency inspired by Hawaiian values — a medium to buy and sell locally, reward labor and stewardship, and keep economic value circulating within our island ʻohana. Kapa units are issued digitally and can be earned through the Kapa UBI program, local work, or donated to support community initiatives.
How the Kapa UBI system works
- Monthly UBI credits: Qualifying residents receive regular Kapa credits to cover essentials.
- Local acceptance: Participating businesses accept Kapa for goods and services, keeping value local.
- Community reinvestment: A share of transactions supports land restoration, cultural programs and governance.
Join the Movement
Whether you are a resident, business or donor, there are practical ways to participate:
- Residents: Apply for Kapa UBI and use Kapa locally.
- Businesses: Become a Kapa acceptor and help strengthen local supply chains.
- Donors: Contribute to the Prosperity Fund to expand UBI and land projects.
